Converged Communication Solutions has announced the acquisition of Aberdeen-based IFB, a leading provider of IT services, for an undisclosed sum.

The move will merge the two technology firms who have both played a pivotal role in shaping the digital infrastructure of the North-east.

All 15 IFB employees will join Converged and relocate to its headquarters, bringing the group's total headcount to 63.

The deal marks the third acquisition for Converged in two years and takes its turnover closer to £10million.

Neil Christie, chief technology officer of Converged Communication Solutions, said: “This acquisition is a natural fit, uniting two local businesses with a shared passion for using digital technology to drive business success.

"IFB’s expertise in providing connectivity solutions perfectly complements our enhanced business offering, meaning customers will benefit from an even greater range of services.

"We are delighted to welcome the IFB team into the Converged family and look forward to delivering the same high-quality services our customers expect.”

Graeme Gordon, chief executive officer of IFB, said: “Joining forces with Converged allows us to take our service offering to the next level, giving our customers access to an even broader portfolio of solutions.

"Joining the Converged Group of companies is a great outcome for IFB, our team, and, most importantly, our customers, who can be reassured that it is business as usual.”

The two entrepreneurs enjoy a long-standing relationship, with Mr Christie having begun his career at IFB before setting up Converged 20 years ago.

Mr Gordon will continue in a leadership role within IFB but will not hold a position with Converged.
