Award-winning North-east EPC company, Katoni Engineering, has expanded its offshore capabilities with the appointment of Leigh-Ann Robb as offshore operations manager and Ross MacPhail as offshore construction manager.
Both were identified as highly talented and experienced individuals that fit the ethos of working ‘The Katoni Way’. Their aim is to grow on the existing construction capabilities at Katoni by providing high quality individuals as part of Katoni’s turnkey offer but also as customers face short-term resourcing challenges.
Joining as offshore operations manager, Leigh-Ann Robb brings over 20 years of experience in recruitment, training, and operations management, having successfully led large-scale workforce mobilisations across offshore and onshore teams. This experience, alongside the opportunity to lead customer facing activities enables Katoni to deliver construction capability as a service line rather than a man-hour focused operation.
After joining, Leigh-Ann expressed her anticipation about the opportunities ahead, saying: “I was so excited to join Katoni. I'd always heard great things about the company but most importantly its culture. Over the last month they have certainly shown this. I'm thrilled to continue my journey here.
"What really attracted me was the ability to focus on quality and customer service. There are offshore team members I have worked with for many years and the ability to focus on quality not quantity at Katoni is genuinely different and I think something the market requires”
Leigh-Ann Robb (Operations Manager) and Ross MacPhail (Offshore Construction Manager)
Ross MacPhail brings over 18 years of offshore construction experience, having held key delivery roles across major projects and campaigns. His expertise spans rope access, repair order contracts, and minor modifications, with previous experience overseeing over 80 offshore personnel and five onshore leads across multiple assets.
Ross shared his early thoughts, saying: “My first few weeks at Katoni have been nothing short of incredible, and the time has absolutely flown by. The culture here is truly contagious, driven by passion, collaboration, and a relentless pursuit of excellence.
"Being part of a smaller team that somehow has a corporate professionalism has been incredibly empowering. The level of impact, support, and shared ambition makes every challenge exciting and every achievement rewarding. It’s inspiring to be surrounded by such a dedicated group, and I’m excited for what’s ahead.”
Discussing the future of Katoni’s offshore construction function, he added: “I believe my extensive offshore and onshore experience aligns perfectly with The Katoni Way and will play a key role in accelerating the growth of Katoni’s construction offering. My ambition is to contribute to securing IRATA accreditation, enabling Katoni to become standalone members of IRATA in the near future and further strengthening the capabilities of Katoni’s construction function.”
Katoni Engineering’s new Offshore Construction Team marks an important milestone in the company’s expansion, strengthening its ability to deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality offshore solutions in the UK and Overseas.
