Aberdeen Conservative and Unionist Association have chosen their candidate to contest the upcoming Midstocket/Rosemount by-election due to be held on Thursday, October 1.

Tom lives and works in Aberdeen and will bring essential experience to the Council.

The Conservative group on Aberdeen City Council have been widely acknowledged for punching above their weight in the ruling administration having been able to deliver key projects for the city such as the Third Don Crossing, the roll out of superfast broadband and crucially bringing stability and balance to the city’s finances.

Speaking on his selection Tom said:

“I have lived in the local area for over 30 years and my knowledge of the issues will allow me to represent the interests of Midstocket and Rosemount effectively.”

“I am looking forward to walking around the ward to meet with as many residents as I can. The environment and amenity of the local area has a lot going for it and it needs continual attention to make sure that it continues to be one of the most pleasant areas of the city to live in.”

“Therefore, if elected I will always put local people first and the issues that affect their quality of life.”

Welcoming Tom’s section Conservative Group Leader, Councillor Ross Thomson, said:

“I’m truly delighted to welcome Tom as our candidates to contest the upcoming by-election.

“Tom brings with him private sector experience associated with the oil and gas industry as well as an in depth knowledge of how the Council works having represented Queen’s Cross between 1998 and 2000. For over 25 years he lectured at Robert gordon University and he has recently retired from serving as a Justice of the Peace which has enabled him to reignite his political passion. When it comes to ensure financial stability through strong financial leadership and management Tom will bring a wealth of essential experience which is needed.

“Tom is a well-known and respected figure within the community and he has dedicated himself to serving the best interests of the public, I know that as a local Councillor for Midstocket/Rosemount he will always put local people first.”
