Aberdeen Restaurant Week organisers are urging discerning diners to “come and get it ... before it’s gone!”
The hugely-popular Foodie Fortnight is now in its second week and Aberdeen Inspired say many of the restaurants, cafes and bars expect to be busy with bookings – some even fully-booked – for this final weekend.
“The feedback we have been getting from restaurants since Aberdeen Restaurant Weeks started on February 24 has been fantastic, with many reporting increased customers and spend,” said Shona Byrne, project manager with Aberdeen Inspired.
“They have also been saying they expect this weekend to be extremely busy, especially as more and more discerning diners are wanting to join in the excitement of discovering delightful meals at delightful prices.
“We would urge people to book now to avoid any disappointments this weekend.”
Feedback from venues taking part in the current outing of Aberdeen Restaurant Weeks – which sees final service on Sunday, March 9 – includes:
- “It's busy. More than usual and I would say 30% more customers and most people will choose the Aberdeen Restaurant Week menu.”
– Da Vinci - “It's been good so far with ARW but the second week is always busier. Since the new year, it's only been busy for the weekends, but there are foodies making the most during weekdays (of Aberdeen Restaurant Weeks), we can see.”
– Dos Amigos - “It has been great so far.”
- Al Fresco
Almost 80 restaurants, cafes and bars are taking part in the special celebration of the north-east’s finest food offerings with tasty menus and deals from as little as a fiver.
You can eat your way around the world with food ranging from Latin American to Scottish, French to Asian during the event that is loved by foodie fans and restaurants alike.
The Foodie Fortnight has also seen special events – such as the Secret Suppers which were snapped up within hours of going on sale – and the return of the Foodie Passport with the chance to win a £500 Aberdeen Gift Card while visiting some fantastic eateries.
Even before Aberdeen Restaurant Weeks started, businesses had been reporting increased bookings and welcoming the uptick in customers and spend it would bring.
Adrian Watson, chief executive of Aberdeen Inspired, said: “The feedback we are getting isn’t just from businesses enjoying seeing more customers coming through their doors, but also from people who are loving the chance to explore Aberdeen’s outstanding culinary sector at price which won’t break the bank.
“I cannot count the number of people who have told me, personally, how much they enjoy Aberdeen Restaurant Weeks and how good it is to see places – and the city centre – so busy during this special fortnight.
“We launched Aberdeen Restaurant Week seven years ago to boost the hospitality sector, bring more people into the city centre and give the local economy a lift. It’s job done on all those counts and I couldn’t be more pleased.”
