Scenes of excitement filled the Ardoe House Hotel on Friday night as CNR International and Chevron were announced the winners of the Corporate Decathlon and Corporate Pentathlon 2015 at the ActivityMix Sports Awards Ball.
More than 250 guests joined the celebrations as teams from companies across Aberdeen celebrated their success. Having accumulated points across a programme of events throughout the year, Halliburton took third place in the Corporate Decathlon, with Proserv in second and CNR International crowned champions. In the Corporate Pentathlon, Awilco Drilling came third, Statoil second and Chevron took first place.
Claire Martin, Team Captain from CNR International said,
“We are delighted to be crowned champions in this year’s Corporate Decathlon. We’ve had a great season, with lots of colleagues getting involved for the first time in sports they had never participated in before. It’s been a great way of getting to know others in the office and bring different departments together. The events have provided an ongoing legacy within the office including a boost to morale during challenging times within the industry.”
The awards were presented to the teams at the annual ActivityMix Sports Awards Ball, which is the culmination of the ActivityMix Corporate Decathlon and Corporate Pentathlon 2015, an active employee engagement programme designed to engage, inspire and enthuse teams. The event is designed to reward and recognise all those who have taken part over the year.
One of the most prestigious awards, for the Captain of the Year, is given to the Captain who has made the most outstanding contribution to his/her organisation throughout the season. It was awarded to Kirsten Torr from Halliburton. Kirsten was selected by three independent judges; Tom Milne, Health & Safety Policy Manager from Oil & Gas UK, Eilidh Geraghty, Business Development Manager from Sport Aberdeen and Wendy Atkinson, Business Development Manager at Mattioli Woods.
Matt Betts, UK Vice President of Halliburton said,
“We are thrilled that Kirsten won the Captain of the Year Award. She has shown great determination and leadership throughout the year to keep our team engaged.
The ActivityMix programme has become an integral element of our engagement strategy, allowing us to achieve multiple objectives through a single framework of activities.
We see enormous CSR benefits as our employees build sustainable connections with community groups and charities through their participation, and we enjoy the reputational benefits of participation reflected back from the public domain through team of the day nominations, good news stories and visible association with a positive initiative.”
Players’ Players medals were also awarded to 13 individuals from across the participating companies in recognition of their enthusiasm, motivation and team spirit throughout the season. Centrica Energy won the Charity Challenge award after helping to re-run the Neon Run which was washed out in July and supporting the ActivityMix charity partners; The ARCHIE Foundation, Cornerstone and Instant Neighbour.
Speaking of the event Richard Johnston, Managing Dirtector of ActivityMix added:
“It was a fantastic night as the ball is a great opportunity to reward and recognise the efforts of everyone who goes the extra mile for their companies and colleagues. Bringing these companies together, over 10 months, across 10 events means we have integrated a large number of people within their own organisation and across Aberdeen. Teams are already talking about the events we have planned for 2016 which is exciting too!”
Following a successful season, the ActivityMix team thesmselves are also finalists of the ‘Investment in People Award’ at the Oil & Gas UK Awards which take place on Thursday, November 5 at the Aberdeen Exhibition & Conference Centre.
