Aberdeen's SNP co-leader Christian Allard is reportedly planning a return to Holyrood.
The Press and Journal reports that Mr Allard may be planning to run as an MSP in the 2026 Scottish parliament elections, despite inviting residents to judge him and his party over the bus gates at the next local elections in 2027.
The Torry councillor previously served as an MSP in 2013 and an MEP in 2019 before taking on the role of co-leader at Aberdeen City Council in 2023.
Speaking to the P&J, Mr Allard did not rule out a move to national politics next year and said "discussions are happening" within the party.
He said: “I’ve been an MSP already. I’ve been an MEP also, and in the two cases, it is always SNP members who decided if I should put my name forward.
“The discussions are always happening and it’s normal that you would always have people that would want you to be there."
