China has warned countries around the world against appeasing the US and Donald Trump over his trade tariffs.
The comments from a Chinese commerce ministry representative come in response to reports the US could put pressure on other countries to limit trade with China in order to receive exemptions from American tariffs.
The Chinese commerce ministry spokesperson said, the BBC reports: "Appeasement cannot bring peace, and compromise cannot earn one respect.
"China firmly opposes any party reaching a deal at the expense of China's interests. If this happens, China will never accept it and will resolutely take countermeasures."
Since introducing his sweeping trade levies on countries around the world, Trump says more than 70 nations have reached out to begin negotiations over a deal.
Delegates from Japan visited Washington last week to discuss a trade deal, while South Korea is expected to come to the negotiating table this week.
Meanwhile, trade talks between Sir Keir Starmer and Donald Trump are believed to be "ongoing and productive".
