Chevron retain award for excellence in supply chain management

Chevron Upstream Europe was recently recognised by Oil & Gas UK, the representative organisation for the UK Offshore Oil and Gas Industry, for continuing to lead the way in Supply Chain Management.

Each year, Oil & Gas UK ranks companies’ compliance with the PILOT Supply Chain Code of Practice (SCCoP) by gold, silver and bronze levels, with the aim of improving overall performance and efficiency across the industry. The Excellence Award is the highest level of achievement in the tiered compliance scheme, which recognises best practice in commercial activities. The accolade honours companies who have retained ‘gold’ star status for three years or more.

At its annual Share Fair event, recently held in Aberdeen, Oil & Gas UK awarded Chevron Upstream Europe with the ‘PILOT Supply Chain Code of Practice Excellence Award’, a prestigious industry award that demonstrates the business unit’s firm commitment to the PILOT SCCoP and celebrates the highest level of achievement and best industry practice.

The well attended industry event provided the opportunity for professionals from the supply sector to hear about the latest UK oil and gas business and technology development opportunities from the major oil and gas players, both from the operator and contractor communities, who unveil their 18-month forward plans for projects in the United Kingdom Continental Shelf.

At the ceremony, Oil & Gas UK’s Operations director Oonagh Werngren, said: “It is heartening to see 26 clients and suppliers from both the operator and contractor communities championing the Code’s principles of working more effectively together to streamline processes and improve business performance. This is a great example of how our industry is rising to the challenge of becoming more competitive in a low oil price world.

“Companies signing up to the aspirational Code are encouraged to demonstrate their compliance by improving the efficiency of commercial practices including speed of invoice payments, transparency of forward work planning and the use of standard contracts. It is fitting that we are recognising those companies leading the way in this area at Share Fair, where we are promoting to industry the importance of positive and co-operative behaviours to maximise economic recovery of our oil and gas reserves.”

Stuart Leighton, Chevron Upstream Europe’s Supply Chain manager added: “We are delighted to once again achieve the Supply Chain Code of Practice Award for Excellence. This allows us to continue to demonstrate our desire to be a partner of choice in the industry. I would like to thank my team and other colleagues in the business for their hard-work, commitment and dedication which has led us to retain this significant award.”
