This festive season Centrum are getting into the spirit of giving by carrying out a four-week food drive at their offices on Union Street.

Carol Angus, centre manager, will be collecting a range of dry and canned food items along with hygiene and baby supplies to help people desperately in need of some extra support in the coming months.

Carol previously took part in one of CFINE's annual initiative Appetite for Change challenge whereby all fundraisers were to live off of £2 a day for all meals.

Commenting on the challenge, Carol said: “When I first took on the challenge last year I thought that £2 a day wouldn’t be that hard as I’ve normally been quite well planned in prepping lunches. For work however, I found the challenge so difficult as you just don’t think about the daily basics you need like milk, bread and butter. I honestly cannot comprehend how people can get by day in and day out like this and something more really needs to be done to provide these families with basic items. CFINE has opened eyes for many people who, like myself, are certainly very guilty of taking what we have for granted.”

Centrum reception is open Monday to Friday 9-5pm and welcome anyone to donate a tin of beans or a bottle of shampoo, anything at all people can spare.
