On Friday, May 5, 2023, Tullos Training Ltd hosted its third Get into Engineering Trades Celebration Day in partnership with The Prince’s Trust Scotland.
The six-week Programme aims to help young people aged 16-30 get their start in the engineering industry by offering them the opportunity to try out different engineering trades in the two taster weeks and complete an SVQ Level 2 Performing Engineering Operation unit in a chosen trade during the last four weeks. The young people are also supported throughout the course with CV building, interview tips and aptitude testing at Tullos Training.
The celebration day was a great success with family and friends, potential employers, referral partners and representatives from various organisations all attending the event to celebrate the achievements of the 11 young people who participated in the programme. Ross Sutherland (Youth Development Lead at The Prince’s Trust Scotland) and Jim Booth (Training Executive at Tullos Training Ltd) opened the event. They were followed by guest speakers Michelle Gray (People & Partner Manager at John Lewis Partnership) and Mr Douglas Fowlie (Deputy Lord Lieutenant for Aberdeenshire). Each course participant then gave a small speech and shared their experiences on the programme before being presented with their certificates.
Many of the young people who attended the six-week programme hope to continue their journeys into the engineering industry with Modern Apprenticeships in various engineering trades.
