Bridge Industrial Supplies offered a helping hand to clean up Aberdeen’s beautiful coastline this weekend, donating essential kit for the Great British Clean Up event.

The event was held on Sunday, September 20, and saw a group of volunteers scatter across the city’s 800m stretch of sand to pick up litter and bring it back to its natural beauty. To help ease the efforts of the volunteers, Bridge generously donated a variety of protective kit items, including gloves and hi-vis vests.

This weekend marked the annual Great British Beach Clean up, organised by the Marine Conservation Society (MSC). The event stretched across the country, clearing up the coastlines of Oban, Cornwall, Essex, Arbroath and Cumbria, to name just a few. This British charity works across the country to help preserve Britain’s living seas and secure a future for the marine wildlife.

This event encourages organised groups around Britain to go out and pick up litter and unwanted items that are dumped and washed onto our shores every day, causing serious harm to the wildlife residing there.

Managing Director at Bridge Industrial Supplies, Mark Gray spoke of the company’s involvement and said; “We were really pleased to be able to help out such a worthwhile cause. At Bridge, the environment is always at the forefront of our decisions and we aim to act responsibly with our service offering and provide our clients with a solution whilst being conscious of our carbon footprint.

“We have a wide variety of items in stock on our premises so it seemed only appropriate that we offer our services as we had equipment available that we thought the volunteers may benefit from. We are always interested in helping out in the local community and we sincerely hope that this gesture made a positive impact on the event.”

The event was a great success with a turnout of over 40 volunteers to help clear up the local seaside. The like-minded group contributed to a national and global survey to record the kind of debris that was collected to help try and prevent it in the future.
