Blaze Manufacturing Solutions boss wins prestigious North-east award

The director of a leading provider of fire control and safety solutions for the energy sector is celebrating after winning a prestigious business award.

Ann Johnson, who established Blaze Manufacturing Solutions (Blaze) with her husband Howard in 2006 to serve the global oil and gas and renewables markets, won the Entrepreneurial Supporter of the Year accolade at this year’s Elevator awards.

The event, which is in its 18th year, and celebrates the achievements of businesses and entrepreneurs across the North-east, took place at the Mercure Aberdeen Ardoe House Hotel, and was attended by more than 400 people.

Mrs Johnson, was commended by judges for her work in the local business community, where she dedicates time to support and mentor start-up businesses in Laurencekirk, pupils at Mearns Academy and also assists with a number of community initiatives.

Over the years Mrs Johnson has also been a keen supporter of the Princes Trust, supporting its Get into Engineering programme, is on the board of the Young Enterprise Scotland, and also took over as chair of the Laurencekirk Business Club in January 2015.

Mrs Johnson, finance director at Blaze, said: “Elevator awards play an important role in promoting business in Aberdeen, especially during the recent economic downturn, where times have been tough for everyone in the city. I am delighted to win the Entrepreneurial Supporter of the Year award as I love the community that I live and work in and have always been passionate about helping community groups, in addition to business in the area.

“There is no greater joy for me than working with the young entrepreneurs or students at the school when they are so proud to show you what they have made or their explanation of how well a sales event went. For this reason alone, I will continue to mentor and support the young workforce of today.”
