Blackadders LLP is celebrating after Paralegal Nikki Scott picked up a prestigious honour at the Scottish Legal Awards.
Nikki was named Paralegal of the Year at a glittering event in Glasgow on Thursday, September 19.
Nikki said: “I can’t quite believe this has happened. I came to this career later than most and I have had a wonderful time at Blackadders. It’s a great team to work with and all my colleagues have been a huge help and support to me over the years. It’s so exciting to be recognised in this way.”
Now a Paralegal Manager, Nikki has progressed through the Executries Team at Blackadders and helps oversee the Trainee Paralegals with their files in addition to handling her own caseload.
Nikki was raised in a small town in Wisconsin and is the mother of eight and grandmother of 10. She started her legal career at the age of 50 and has been with Blackadders LLP since August 2015. She was hired as a private client secretary but, within weeks, was asked to take the role as PA for the Managing Partner. When a position of Trainee Paralegal became available, Nikki transferred to the Executries Team.
Blackadders also celebrated being shortlisted in the Firm of the Year category and Robyn Lee as a nominee in the Rising Star of the Year category. Robyn had a hugely successful 2023, being promoted in April from Senior Solicitor to Associate Solicitor. She is now a Director in the firm’s Private Client team.
Emma Gray, Joint Managing Partner, said: “We are absolutely thrilled for Nikki. She thoroughly deserved to win this award. I’m sorry that Robyn missed out in her category but I’m glad she got the recognition she deserves by being shortlisted.
“Everyone at the firm has put in a huge amount of effort to set Blackadders on a new path over the past couple of years and we are so pleased that our achievements have been recognised by the industry by being shorlisted for Firm of the Year.
“We set ourselves ambitious targets to grow the firm, challenge the status quo and to attract top talent. We have achieved this - and much more - and I couldn’t be happier for everyone at the firm.”
Robyn said: “I was thrilled to be nominated and am grateful to my team and to the firm for all the support I have had over the years. It’s been great to celebrate our successes together tonight.”
Ryan McKay, Joint Managing Partner, added: “Nikki’s win and the shortlisting are fantastic news for the team and everyone connected with Blackadders. There is no doubt it all reflects everyone’s hard work and that our achievements to date signify the national progress we have made as a firm.”
Around 600 guests gathered for the glittering ceremony at the Doubletree Hilton Hotel in Glasgow. The event, hosted by comedian Des Clarke, was celebrating its 21st anniversary.
