Bilfinger UK’s integrity engineering manager, Hamish Tait, has been appointed as the chair of the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) engineering inspection technical advisory committee (TAC), strengthening commitment to achieving the highest of standards.

UKAS serves as the National Accreditation Body, appointed by government to assess and accredit organisations that provide services including testing, inspection, certification, calibration, validation and verification.

The engineering inspection TAC is one of 16 committees that enables UKAS to seek stakeholder input over a wide range of sectors. The committees are advisory and non-executive and provide a forum for input from various bodies and individuals with an interest in UKAS’ technical activities, for example, professional bodies, accredited organisations, customers, and regulatory bodies.

Responsible for Bilfinger UK’s integrity engineering division, Hamish designed, delivered and continuously manages Bilfinger’s UKAS Accredited Management Framework.

In his capacity as chair of the TAC, Hamish will support UKAS to coordinate the technical advice from professional bodies, accredited organisations, customers and regulatory bodies focussing on the development and operation of UKAS activities in the engineering inspection sector.

He said: “I’m delighted to have been asked by UKAS to be the chair of their engineering inspection technical advisory committee.

“While regulatory requirements, industry standards and guidelines may be fixed, our approach to meeting the core content of those standards must evolve, especially in this digital age with advancements like AI.

“I’m really looking forward to supporting the world of accreditation as it meets those ever changing needs.”

Bilfinger UK has a long-standing partnership with UKAS, working collaboratively to uphold and advance industry standards. This partnership has been instrumental in ensuring that Bilfinger UK’s services meet rigorous quality and safety benchmarks, enhancing client trust and satisfaction.
