Barclays increases wealth management presence with Aberdeen and Perth appointments

Barclays has bolstered its Wealth & Investment Management team in Scotland with the appointment of two new private bankers.

Katie McLaughlin and Neil MacKay will offer support to the Aberdeen and Perth regions respectively as the bank continues to grow its presence in Scotland. Katie joined the Barclays team in Aberdeen in 2012 before being promoted to private banker. With 10 years of financial experience through increasingly senior roles with HSBC in Inverness and Aberdeen and HBOS, she will be responsible for further growing Barclays’ business in the North-east. She is currently studying for an Honours degree in Business Management.

Chartered Wealth Manager Neil joins from BA Training & Consultants Ltd having formerly worked with Coutts, Child & Co and Standard Life among others across financial planning, investments, protection, pension and mortgages. Born and bred in Perth, Neil studied at Perth College before embarking on his 15 year financial career.

Calum Brewster, Head of Wealth & Investment Management for Scotland, Northern Ireland and North England, said: “These new appointments reflect our commitment to growing our presence in the regions in Scotland, allowing our clients to have the best of both worlds – local knowledge and support on the ground, combined with the depth and breadth of our global capabilities.

“Katie’s promotion will bolster our established Aberdeen team at a time of change in the city. Despite the impact of fluctuating oil prices on the oil & gas sector, we have a positive medium term view of the Aberdeen economy and are still seeing plenty of signs of investment activity from clients.

“Perth’s economy is flourishing thanks to growth in key sectors like food & drink, renewables and tourism with increasing prosperity and entrepreneurial activity. Neil’s in depth local knowledge and extensive financial expertise make him ideally placed to support our client base in the region.”
