Balfour+Manson is proud to announce that they raised over £5,200 for MS Society Scotland between April and June this year. The staff have been extremely busy participating in a number of challenges including the 50x50 challenge (walking or running 5k a day for 50 days) and Abseiling off the Forth Rail Bridge.
On Sunday June 19 a team from our Aberdeen office including, Partner Julie Clark-Spence, Solicitor Jenna Dicken and Legal Secretaries Debbie Beattie and Shona Sibbald took on the Ythan Challenge - a multi-terrain adventure race in Ellon, north of Aberdeen. The course is around 11kms long and includes a number of obstacles including straw bales, killer hills, a river crossing and lots of mud!
Once back in more comfortable surroundings they also hosted a ladies fundraising evening at the Society of Advocates Library in Aberdeen raising over £1000 on that night alone.
Partner Julie said “We have all really enjoyed the challenge of our fundraising activities over the last month and it has created a great buzz around the office. While the Ythan Challenge was tough going at points there were a lot of laughs along the way! We are currently debating what to tackle next. We are very proud to have raised over £650 from the challenge alone which was a huge motivation to get us round the course!”
Jenna Dicken is also taking on the challenge of a lifetime and conquering a 10,000ft tandem skydive in August along with commercial solicitor Stephanie McLaren. They have already surpassed their fundraising target of £900 with a month to go.
Jenna said “We are extremely excited but absolutely terrified. We have had incredible support from our family, friends and colleagues which will hopefully give us the motivation to take that leap off the plane!”
Elaine Motion, chairman of Balfour+Manson commented: “I feel proud to have so many staff eager to take on challenges like these to fundraise and raise awareness of MS Society Scotland. A number of our colleagues’ close family and friends, as well as one of our own colleagues, is affected by MS so it feels a charity close to many people’s hearts.”
