US President Donald Trump has substantially expanded the list of goods exempt from his tariffs on Canada and Mexico imposed this week.
Despite the measures being less than a week old, it is already the second time Trump has rowed back on the import taxes after they spooked financial markets and caused significant concern for businesses.
The first row back saw car manufacturers made exempt from the 25% import tax just a day after it was introduced.
Now, the BBC reports, items shipped under North America's free trade US-Mexico-Canada agreement (USMCA) have also been added to the exemptions.
This includes electronics like televisions, air conditioners, and food such as avocados and beef, according to analysis from Trade Partnership Worldwide.
Following the new exemptions, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum thanked Trump and Canada's finance minister said the country would hold off on the second round of retaliatory tariffs on US products it had threatened.
