AtkinsRéalis, on behalf of Forestry and Land Scotland, is proud to announce the successful handover of the new state-of-the-art glasshouse, a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to modernise the nursery.
This project represents a major step forward in enhancing the efficiency and sustainability of nursery operations.
The new 12,000m² glasshouse, constructed by project partner Morgan Sindall, is approximately the size of two football pitches and is capable of growing up to 19million trees per year under its roof. This investment in construction will enable Forestry and Land Scotland to more than double its tree production capacity. The facility also includes new offices and a new distribution and operations centre, further supporting the nursery's expanded operations.
AtkinsRéalis, a leading global engineering and project management consultancy, delivered quantity surveying services for this project. The team was led by Jonathan Stout, quantity surveyor, and Lewis Murray, managing surveyor, whose experience and dedication added value in the project's success. The team's attention to detail and commitment to excellence helped to bring this ambitious project to fruition on time and within budget.
The new glasshouse is expected to significantly boost the nursery's production capacity, enabling Forestry and Land Scotland to better serve the needs of the community and the environment. This modern facility is a testament to the collaborative efforts of all parties involved and sets a new standard for future projects.
