AtkinsRéalis is excited to announce the launch of its Net Zero Superheroes Competition at Middleton Park Primary School.

Net Zero Superheroes is a UK-wide initiative which aims to raise awareness and inspire the younger generation to pursue careers in STEM to play a vital role in meeting the UK’s net zero target.

Matthew Wong, assistant project manager, will be representing the company in this inspiring initiative aimed at engaging the next generation of innovators to tackle the challenges of climate change and achieve net zero emissions by 2050.

The Net Zero Superheroes Competition, spearheaded by AtkinsRéalis, encourages school pupils across the UK to think creatively about energy, transport, and infrastructure solutions for a sustainable future. This competition is part of AtkinsRéalis' commitment to making a positive impact on the planet and its people. The initiative encourages pupils to think about, and make, small changes to their lives to reduce their energy demand and carbon footprint.

Matthew Wong expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, "I am proud to be part of this journey in encouraging the next generation into STEM. I look forward to mentoring the pupils, sharing insights, and learning from their innovative ideas."

Hugh Ransom, associate director at AtkinsRéalis, emphasised the importance of such initiatives in fostering a sustainable future. "Our goal is to inspire and empower the younger generation to become the leaders and innovators of tomorrow. The Net Zero Superheroes Competition is a fantastic platform for achieving this."

Jessie Denholm, social value lead at AtkinsRéalis, added: "We are thrilled to see our employees actively participating in initiatives that drive social value and environmental sustainability. This competition not only educates but also empowers students to make a real difference."

The competition closes for judging at the end of March, with winning teams/individuals awarded exciting prizes, such as school trips to local science centres and wind farms. All submissions are entered into a random prize draw each year for four different spot prizes.

At AtkinsRéalis, we are committed to making a positive impact on our planet, and we are honored to be part of this journey. We look forward to mentoring young minds, sharing insights, and learning from their innovative ideas.
