Asthma and Allergy Foundation is set to host its 15th Anniversary Fundraising Dinner on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at the prestigious Trinity Hall.

The Aberdeen based charity is appealing to Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce members to fill their last remaining three tables at the event.

Sponsoring the event as a title sponsor is Canadian Natural Resources Limited (CNRL). Barry Duncan, Managing Director and Vice President Finance at CNR International, and one of the charity’s Ambassadors, said “At CNR International, we believe in making a positive impact in the communities where we work. Partnering with the Asthma and Allergy Foundation for their 15th Anniversary Autumn Ball is an opportunity to support a cause that aligns with our values. I encouraged other businesses to get involved”.

The Autumn Ball, taking place on October 5, 2024, is not just a celebration – it’s a chance for businesses to actively support life-saving programs that provide essential asthma and allergy education, particularly to children in schools across Scotland. By becoming a sponsor, your company will play a critical role in advancing this vital work while gaining valuable exposure, getting asthma awareness training for company staff, and obtaining an Asthma Awareness Status for your company.

Vicki McGrain Rae, Head of Services, said: “We are gearing up to our big day with many local corporates and businesses who have already bought tables. We have just 3 tables remaining, and we’d love to offer this out to Aberdeen and Grampian Chamber of Commerce members.”

The 15th Anniversary Autumn Ball will feature a formal dinner, entertainment by the Skyrie Ceilidh Band, and exciting auction prizes, with all proceeds directly funding AAF’s life-changing programs, including asthma awareness workshops for adults and children, with training programs for schools.

Vicki continued: “We hope to raise as much as we can to continue our vital support to adults with asthma and local children and their families living in challenging life circumstances which is impacting on their asthma. It’s a great event to get involved with and we would love to hear from you!”

Martina Chukwuma-Ezike, CEO of the Asthma and Allergy Foundation, urged businesses to seize this opportunity: "We are thrilled to have CNR International as our Title Sponsor, but we need more businesses to step up and support this life-saving work. Sponsoring our 15th Anniversary Autumn Ball offers a powerful opportunity for companies to give back while gaining excellent visibility and receiving asthma awareness training for your staff. We encourage businesses of all sizes to get involved and together we can help our communities thrive.

Three tables, along Platinum and Gold Sponsorship opportunity are still available, and we encourage businesses on AGCC to take this unique opportunity. All booking and sponsorship enquires should be directed to Nicki at Nichola.Duncan@asthmaandallergy.org.uk or call 01224 973001 (option 3)

About the Asthma and Allergy Foundation:

Asthma and allergy foundation is Scotland’s only dedicated asthma charity, improving the health of the 368,000 people living with asthma in Scotland. Asthma cannot be cured but it can be managed. In the UK, every 10 seconds someone has a severe asthma attack, and tragically three people die from asthma daily. But it’s still not recognised as a serious condition.

Asthma and Allergy Foundation is the only charity delivering this unique service in Scotland and its mission is to improve the lives of individuals affected by asthma across Scotland through the delivery of 1:1 and group asthma awareness and management workshop, advice line, practical support, and providing reliable health information on asthma, helping those with asthma to live longer, healthier and more fulfilling lives.

Over the past 14 years Asthma and Allergy Foundation services, programmes and projects has grown and today the charity supports 15,986 adults, young people, children and their families annually.

Both adults and children can contact Asthma and Allergy Foundation for several reasons such as poor control of asthma impacting on their ability to work which equals poor living conditions and lack of heating. For children and young people, impact on school attendance & attainment; Embarrassment over using inhalers in front of others; Sadness over not being able to take part in normal activities; Frustration and anger at how asthma can be limiting (in terms of activities); The feeling of guilt about the effect their illness has on the rest of the family, as well as a very strong and real fear of dying - especially as asthma sufferers need to rely on someone else when they have a bad asthma attack, and worry their relatives, teachers, friends etc. will not know what to do.
