Aberdeen architectural practice TCD Architects has strengthened its management team with the appointment of Steve Walker as associate director.
Steve, an architect with the city firm since 2011, will play a key strategic role as TCD looks to capitalise on a period of significant business growth.
Steve said: "These are exciting times for the practice and I'm looking forward to making a fresh contribution as we pursue our growth objectives.
"TCD has won a succession of contracts recently and created partnerships that put us in a great position to secure sustainable success.
"The distinctive culture of creativity and teamwork at TCD not only makes it a great place to work, but inspires confidence among our clients."
Steve, an honours and masters graduate from the Scott Sutherland School of Architecture at Aberdeen's Robert Gordon University, is in fact in his third stint at TCD: during his study years he first completed a placement programme at the firm before subsequently performing summer work with the business.
Following his studies he went on to work for another architectural practice in Aberdeen for four years, then spent some time working in the Cayman Islands before joining TCD.
His key projects in recent years have included the new multi-storey offices of global engineering and construction company in Westhill. Steve was actively involved in the development from initial client feasibility stages through to completion.
In his new role, Steve has responsibility for areas ranging from staff and project management to business development.
Alan Cromar, a director at TCD Architects, said: "It's great to bring Steve into the senior management team at TCD. We're confident his knowledge, flair and drive will serve us well and help ensure we realise our ambitions for the practice in the long term."
TCD has in recent months secured a succession of major contract wins. They include a commission for a new landmark building on the site of the fire-ravaged Jimmy Chung's restaurant at Aberdeen beach, a planned 600 dwelling house residential and commercial development with associated infrastructure to the east of Kintore, and major work on recycling facilities throughout the north-east of Scotland. The company has also completed a series of office and commercial projects, including the Rubber Atkins building in Bridge of Don.
TCD Architects, founded in 1963, has offices at Alford Place in the centre of Aberdeen.
