IED Training Solutions has been awarded the Ministry of Defence’s highest accolade for supporting the Armed Forces community - the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Award.

The Arbroath-based firm is one of 100 companies from both the public and private sectors throughout the UK, and one of a number from Scotland to receive the prestigious award this year.

IED Training Solutions’ managing director Ian Clark said he and his colleagues felt “honoured and incredibly proud’ to receive this recognition of their work and continued commitment to the Armed Forces Community.

“IED Training Solutions is wholly owned and operated by former full career Royal Marines and the ‘Commando Distinction’ characteristics – versatility, value, excellence – very much underpin our business strategy,” he said.

“As a national business which provides training and consultancy, we’re well placed to advocate the benefits of Reservists and service leaders. We believe the leadership and technical skills that military personnel develop during their service prepare them well for career transition.

“Supporting the whole Armed Forces community is a primary focus for IED Training, and we thank HRFCA for their continued assistance and encouragement in allowing us to undertake this special commitment.”

The MoD scheme publicly recognises the commitment that organisations such as IED Training Solutions are making by acting as advocates for Defence People including its positive attitude and policies towards the armed forces community and its support for servicemen and women.

The company employs a number of former uniformed personnel both as consultants to deliver courses and train clients across a variety of industry sectors including healthcare, transport, local authorities, energy, construction and security. It also offers courses to current military personnel making the transition from the armed forces to civilian life.

In 2017, IED Training Solutions signed the Armed Forces Covenant, receiving the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Bronze Award later that year. In November 2018, the company was presented with the Silver Award.

IED Training Solutions will be presented with the Gold Award on November 12 at the National Army Museum in London.
