ACVO TSI, Aberdeen’s third sector interface, is delighted to share the publication of the April 2025 edition of ACVO News, the free online magazine showcasing the latest community news, updates and opportunities from Aberdeen City.

ACVO News plays a key role in promoting the work of third sector organisations each month across Aberdeen, as well as providing the latest funding opportunities, volunteering roles, events and vacancies in the city.

The latest edition shares insights from Alan Johnstone, a volunteer with Aberdeen Art Gallery, Archives and Museums (AAGM), about bringing the city's social history to life through hands-on heritage sessions that connect people with this city’s rich past.

Furthermore, readers can discover the experiences of volunteers at Instant Neighbour through their own words, highlighting the benefits of giving their time back and how the organisation fosters a sense of community by providing opportunities to grow in confidence as an individual.

This month’s news also provides an update from Gathimba Edwards Foundation, recently rebranded to GEF. Speaking with Co-founder and Director Myles Edwards, he shares the launch of GEF and how this reflects the organisation’s renewed vision and expanded commitment to supporting children in Kenya and North-East Scotland.

In addition to these highlights, the April ACVO News puts a spotlight on the work of Aberlour Futures and how they encompass The Promise to empower both the current and future childcare workforce through delivering high quality training and qualifications.

Other third sector updates in this month’s edition include:

  • Nominations now open for The Angela Joss ‘Bee You’ Memorial Award 2025
  • The launch of Mental Health Aberdeen’s new mental health service resource map
  • Diversity Bridge SCIO named Inspirational Charitable Organisation of the Year at the 2025 Mental Health & Wellbeing Awards

Third sector organisations, charities and community groups from across Aberdeen are welcome to contact ACVO to share their stories or if they wish to have a feature article highlighting the work they do in the city.
