We Too! is proud to announce the launch of the Inclusive Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire Awards, a celebration of organisations, businesses, and individuals championing inclusivity within the local area.

The awards ceremony will take place on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at the stunning Union Kirk in Aberdeen.

These awards will honour those who go above and beyond to create spaces, opportunities, and initiatives that ensure everyone feels welcome, valued, and included. From retail outlets and community projects to soft play, the Inclusive Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire Awards will highlight and celebrate excellence in inclusivity.

Award Categories:

  • Inclusive Hairdresser: Recognising hairdressers who provide exceptional inclusive services for all clients.
  • Inclusive Dentist: Celebrating dental practices that ensure a welcoming and accessible experience for everyone.
  • Inclusive Restaurant: Honouring restaurants that prioritise inclusivity in their dining experiences.
  • Inclusive Shoe Shop: Highlighting shoe shops that offer inclusive services and accessible environments.
  • Inclusive Afterschool Club: Recognising clubs that create welcoming and supportive spaces for all.
  • Inclusive Soft Play: Celebrating soft play centres that ensure fun, safety, and accessibility for every child.
  • Inclusive Outdoor Attraction: Honouring outdoor venues that prioritise accessibility and inclusivity.

  • Inclusive Activity Class: Celebrating activity classes that ensure participation and enjoyment for everyone.

The award categories reflect the key themes of advice sought by local parents, carers and customers during drop-in sessions held at Ninja HQ in the Trinity Centre in Aberdeen. Everyday tasks, such as haircuts or shoe shopping, can present significant sensory challenges for people with disabilities. Practical advice and trusted recommendations are among the most common topics raised during these sessions.

We Too! HQ Ninja, Carrie Morrison, said: “Tasks like getting a haircut or buying shoes can be incredibly challenging for those with sensory needs. At our Ninja HQ drop-in sessions, parents and carers frequently ask for advice and recommendations on inclusive services. These award categories highlight real-life situations where inclusivity can make a significant difference, and we want to recognise and celebrate those who excel in these areas.”

Applications on wetoo.org.uk will open on January, 20 and close on February, 21, after which a public vote will be held, enabling customers and users of services to cast their vote on the people and places who have excelled and made a difference to them. Finalists will be announced in advance of the awards ceremony.

Phionna McInnes, chief Ninja at We Too!, said: "The Inclusive Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire Awards are a wonderful opportunity to recognise and celebrate the incredible efforts of individuals and organisations who champion inclusivity across our region.
