Industrial services leader Altrad has become the primary sponsor of Garioch Ladies Rugby Football Club (RFC), based in Inverurie, northwest of Aberdeen, Scotland.

Established in 2012, Garioch Ladies RFC is the region’s only team competing in the Scottish Premiership, the top tier of amateur rugby union in Scotland. The sponsorship also extends to the club’s U18 Girls rugby team, which includes players aged 16 to 18.

As a local club, Garioch Ladies RFC has an important connection with the Altrad Sparrows branch in Aberdeen.

“The passion for rugby aligns with the core values of our Group: humility, courage, respect, conviviality, and solidarity. We are privileged to partner with Garioch Ladies RFC, reflecting our commitment to supporting local organisations and their crucial role in fostering community cohesion and youth development,” said Chris Parsons, general manager - Onshore at Altrad Sparrows.

The 2024/2025 Scottish Premiership season kicks off on Saturday, August 24, with Garioch Ladies hosting their first match at Kellands Park in Inverurie against Corstorphine RFC.

Team player Jodie Dalgarno expressed her excitement about this new chapter in the club’s journey: “Having Altrad as our lead sponsor for the women’s and girls’ teams will have an incredible impact on the club’s future. Part of the funding will support our community coaching, benefiting all sections of the club.”

Altrad has a long-standing commitment to supporting rugby. Mohed Altrad owns the Montpellier Herault Rugby Club (MHR), which won the French Top 14 championship in 2022. In addition, during five years (2017-2023), the Altrad Group was the official jersey sponsor of the French Rugby Team (FFR), and since 2023, the Group has been the main partner of all French Rugby teams.

The company is also the major global partner of all New Zealand Rugby teams in black, including the iconic All Blacks and Black Ferns, and serves as the principal partner of the Western Force in Australia.

In addition to supporting elite rugby, Altrad is dedicated to grassroots development, sponsoring amateur clubs such as Henley Rugby Club in England and Mixar Rugby Schilde in Belgium. “We are excited to welcome Garioch Ladies RFC and the U18 Girls to this esteemed list,” added Chris Parsons.

Garioch Ladies claimed the National Bowl Cup title in the 2016/2017 season, won the Scottish National Rugby 2 League in 2017/2018, and the National 1 League in 2021/2022. The final fixture of the 2024/2025 Scottish Premiership season is scheduled for November 30, with the Cup series running from January 25 to April 25.
