The countdown is beginning in earnest.
In exactly three months’, on Wednesday May 4, All-Energy, the UK’s largest renewable energy exhibition and conference will open its doors at Glasgow’s Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC) for two action-packed stimulating, and business-full days.
Every form of renewable and sustainable generation will come under the conference spotlight and be featured in the exhibition; and so too will vital topics such as energy efficiency; heating (with its own zone in the exhibition); energy storage (also with a zone for the first time); sustainable and smart cities’ requirements; decarbonisation of the food and drink industry, all combined with finance and funding, the grid (including smart grids) and much more. Fifteen sector-specific trails act on a win:win basis both to help visitors find exactly what they are looking for, and ensure exhibitors see people interested in their products and/or services.
“Over 75% of available space at our annual event has been taken by exhibitors; work is well advanced on creating a world-class conference; and our sponsor list is growing in readiness for the opening of the 16th All-Energy,” explains event director, Jonathan Heastie of organisers, Reed Exhibitions. “Online free registration will open on February 15 at www.all-energy.co.uk
“Each year we produce a veritable one-stop shop, bringing together all elements of the industry in the exhibition, in our multi-stream conference, in quick-fire seminar theatres, in our dedicated Power Club Lounge (for developers and similar stakeholders), in our one-to-one share fare area, and at our legendary Giant Networking Evening,” he adds. “Last year, the first time the show had been held in Glasgow, we attracted 8,250 people from 50 countries (a 20% increase over the previous year), of which nearly 3,000 attended at least one conference session, and all packed our aisles and stands where representatives of 450 exhibiting companies were there to do business.
“There’s no doubt that times are challenging for many in the sectors we serve, but there’s a great deal of truth in the maxim ‘when the going gets tough, the tough get going’ and we have certainly seen a rush of bookings, particularly in recent weeks, proving that people remember the busy and buzzy atmosphere at All-Energy and are determined to benefit from it. Good leads are made, business is done – that’s what’s needed, and All-Energy 2016 certainly provides the right environment. What’s more, visiting the exhibition, attending the conference and the Giant Networking Evening are all free of charge to those with a business/professional interest in our topics.
“We are delighted Shepherd and Wedderburn will once again be headline sponsors.”
One of the most eye-catching of exhibits on the showfloor will be what is believed to be the largest UK 65C air source heatpump, measuring over 8m long, and being exhibited by Star Renewable Energy, Parsons Brinkerhoff and British Gas. “That will certainly stop visitors in their tracks,” says Jonathan Heastie. “We are pleased too to list Aggreko, Black & Veatch, British Solar Renewables, Centrica Energy, Damen Shipyards, Danish Board of District Heating, Edina Group, Enercon, EWT, Flanders Investment & Trade, GDF Suez Energy, Ingeteam, Marine Scotland, Norvento Wind Energy, npower renewables, RES, S&C Electric Europe, Senvion, SgurrEnergy, SmartestEnergy, Statkraft, SWEP International, Treco, Vensys, Welsh Government, and Wilo amongst our exhibitors for 2016.”
The conference programme will be unveiled by the end of February, but already includes such luminaries as ScottishPower’s Keith Anderson; Professor Sir Jim McDonald of Strathclyde University and co-chair of the Scottish Energy Advisory Board; Atlantis Resources’ CEO Tim Cornelius; DONG Energy’s, Benj Sykes, Matthew Knight of Siemens and many more. In 2015 there were some 450 speakers – the figure is likely to be the same in 2016. In line with Scottish Government aims the conference will be looking at both energy supply and end use; and at local energy strategy, and as ever include sessions devoted to community energy in all its guises.
All-Energy is held in association with the Renewable Energy Association (REA); Highlands and Islands Enterprise; Scottish Enterprise; Aberdeen Renewable Energy Group (AREG) and host city Glasgow. The Society for Underwater Technology is the show’s learned society patron. A further 40 organisations including government departments, professional bodies and trade associations act as supporters of the two-day annual event.
