AKR Fitness, today (August 31) celebrates eight years since they opened their doors in the Arches, Aberdeen.

Specialising in small-group personal training, AKR are twice winners of the Customer Service Award at the National Fitness Awards.

Founder, Mike MacDonald said,

“Stop-start cycles plague fitness and so the aim for AKR was always to make it easier for people to stay on track with their fitness. Particularly those people who don’t like the gym, have failed at the gym or who have never even been in a gym.

The reality is that regular gyms don’t work for the majority. So from the outset, we’ve differentiated ourselves with a focus on environment, coaching and community.

We sought first to create a place in which people can feel at home. Because it’s easier to show up when feel that you belong.

From there we aim to deliver best in class coaching so our members never have to worry about what to do or if they’re doing it right. It’s an effective workout every time.

And lastly, we bring people together. Hard things become easier when you do them together.”
