Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC) saw one of its Sales Managers named Regional Young Ambassador at Friday’s (November 27) Aberdeen City and Shire Tourism Awards (ACSTA).
The awards celebrate and recognise excellence in the hospitality and tourism sectors.
Steve Daun, Sales Manager for Associations at AECC was presented the prestigious award for being recognised as a rising star in the tourism industry and will now go on to represent the North-east of Scotland at the Scottish Thistle Awards in March.
The award states that ‘People are the essence of the tourism industry’ and Steve, as a highly driven individual and having worked in the tourism industry since 2008 has gained a vast amount of experience and possesses a passion for the industry and its future. Since joining AECC in 2009 Steve has progressed and is now responsible for the associations market, playing a vital part selling the city as a destination of choice to the conference market.
As well as being extremely hard working and passionate, Steve has played an integral part in helping to bring a vast amount of international conferences to the city and in the period from April 2014 to March 2015, Steve helped to secure 14 conferences for the city, bringing substantial economic benefit and attracting more than 5500 additional delegates to the city.
AECC’s Director of Sales and Marketing, Louise Lonie, said:
