The North of Scotland’s largest venue, Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC) has been shortlisted for this years Northern Star Business Awards in the category for Excellence in Health and Safety.
The Northern Star Business Awards, organised by Aberdeen and Grampian Chamber of Commerce (AGCC) is a prestigious event in the corporate social calendar and highly attended by around 800 guests. This year marks the 12th anniversary of the awards and will celebrate the achievements of the corporate industry of the North-East and the results will be announced on the evening of the 24th September, at AECC.
The AECC’s Health and Safety mission statement is: “To go beyond mere compliance with the law to achieve a positive health and safety culture that genuinely adds value to the services we supply to our customer.”
Fiona Mann, Director of Operations and Safety said, “We have a robust Health and Safety Policy and a workforce that is fully engaged. In the last few years the levels of training and education have been increased which has had a very positive effect. Health and Safety is core to the ethos of the company. In a recent survey, 98% of staff reported that they felt H&S is embedded into everyone’s day which highlights the significance throughout the workforce.”
The staff at AECC are delighted to be named a finalist and to receive recognition for the achievements and hard work they have all practiced to create a positive H&S culture at the venue.
AGCC recently held its annual general meeting where AECC were presented with a certificate to celebrate 30 years of continuous membership of AGCC, taking them to a Platinum Member.
The evening was a double celebration as Fiona Mann, Director of Operations and Safety was elected to join the Policy Council at AGCC for a term of three years.
