Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC) last week hosted the return of Oil & Gas UK’s Share Fair, the trade association’s largest event of the year, which aims to promote the exchange of industry opinions, providing the opportunity to talk directly with peers and to establish and grow business opportunities.
The annual event, which is regarded as one of the most influential events for gaining first-hand knowledge of the industry, focuses on the future of the industry, in what is currently a difficult business environment.
Chief Executive, Deirdre Michie, said the attendance at the event was reflective of the current industry climate, yet underlined the dedication of industry professionals to improve the current situation. Delegates were urged to embrace new ways of working, with a number of new initiatives also previewed at the event as part of Oil & Gas UK’s Efficiency Task Force.
Following the Share Fair, Oil & Gas UK hosted its prestigious annual awards dinner at AECC, which brought together the oil and gas industry to celebrate achievements in the field. The event took place on Thursday evening, with winners across eight separate categories taking home awards for outstanding contribution in their field, with over 400 guests on the evening treated to a celebratory dinner prepared in-house by the chefs at AECC.
In the ninth year of the Awards, Oil & Gas UK also introduced a new category of the MER UK Award in acknowledgment of the industry’s current drive for new, more efficient ways of working.
Greame Cumming, Interim Managing Director of AECC, said:
“It’s great to welcome Oil & Gas UK back to the venue with Share Fair and Oil & Gas UK Awards. We are looking forward to working with Oil & Gas UK over the next few months, and look forward to hosting its Environmental Seminar, Business Breakfast and Annual General Meeting before the end of the year.”
