An Aberdeen entrepreneur has expanded his painting and decorating business portfolio with the acquisition of a well-established north-east business, supported by Drummond Finance and two other Aberdeen-based professional advisors.
Artur Levickis, who owns A&B Property Services, has acquired the Aberdeen division of Nodram Decorators. He has purchased Nodram Decorators (Aberdeen) Limited, a specialist painting and decorating company, from Donald and Cyril MacPhee for an undisclosed sum. They retain ownership of Nodram’s north and central divisions, which are based in Inverness and Bathgate.
Nodram Decorators (Aberdeen) Limited has an annual turnover of around £1million and employs 25 staff in the north-east. The business, which operates from Whitemyres Avenue, works with major housebuilders and construction companies on new build developments and building refurbishment projects. Alongside painting and decorating services, it provides Ames taping of plasterboard walls and the installation of Gyproc coving and ornate cornicing.
Acquiring Nodram Decorators (Aberdeen) Limited enhances the services offered by Mr Levickis’s existing business, A&B Property Services, which he established in 2010. Based in South Esplanade West, the painting and decorating firm currently employs 10 staff and undertakes residential and commercial property refurbishments. It specialises in internal and external spray painting services for kitchen units and uPVC windows, doors and exterior cladding.
With both businesses offering complementary services it is expected that one will support the growth of the other, and in particular offer access to new markets for A&B Property Services’ uPVC spray painting services. Mr Levickis intends to grow Nodram Decorators (Aberdeen) Limited over the coming years, with the aim of doubling staff numbers by 2025. It will continue to trade independently of A&B Property Services.
The deal was delivered with the support of a number of Aberdeen-based professional advisors who worked together to complete the transaction. Accountancy and tax advisory firm Fyfe Moir & Associates introduced both parties and facilitated the deal on behalf of the seller, while Drummond Finance secured funding to finance the acquisition, and Howie & Co Solicitors acted on behalf of Mr Levickis.
Commenting on the acquisition, Mr Levickis said: “I had been looking to expand the reach of A&B Property Services for some time and purchasing the Aberdeen division of Nodram Decorators offered an excellent opportunity to do that. The two businesses complement each other and provide scope for cross-selling services, particularly our cost-effective uPVC spray painting provision.
“Nodram Decorators (Aberdeen) Limited has an excellent reputation and strong foothold in local market, which we look to build on in the coming years. With thousands of new homes expected to be built in the north-east this decade and ongoing investment in refurbishment projects, there are many opportunities for continued expansion.
“The deal is a great example of how a number of smaller experienced local businesses with excellent contacts and networks can pull together to deliver such agreements and help one another grow.”
A&B Property Services was established in 2010 by Artur Levickis and provides painting and decorating and property refurbishment services to residential and commercial customers. The firm specialises in internal and external spray painting services, offering affordable makeovers for kitchen cabinets and uPVC windows, doors and external cladding. In addition, it offers property maintenance services to manage the upkeep of tenanted or factored premises.
