With Christmas fast approaching, AberNecessities has launched its annual Believing in Magic campaign to ensure no child in Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire goes without essentials this festive season.

This year, the charity aims to bring the joy of Christmas to over 5,000 local children living in poverty.

Currently, 24% of children in Aberdeen live below the poverty line, meaning that as many as 1 in 4 local children may miss out on the warmth and happiness that make Christmas special.

The Believing in Magic campaign seeks to provide these children with Christmas Eve boxes, gifts, cosy pyjamas, and other much-needed items, allowing them to feel the wonder of the season.

Last year, with the incredible generosity of donors, AberNecessities reached over 5,000 children, delivering hope and joy to families across the North-east.

This year, demand is at an all-time high, and the charity is once again calling on the community and local businesses to make a difference in the lives of children.

“Christmas should be a time of joy and celebration, yet for too many children, it’s filled with hardship,” says AberNecessities founder Danielle Flecher-Horn.

“Our campaign seeks to change that. With the support of our community, we can bring the wonder and warmth of the season to every child, no matter their circumstances.

"It’s the kindness and generosity of our community that truly makes this campaign possible.”

Ways to support the Believing in Magic campaign
