This Christmas, thanks to the overwhelming generosity of our corporate sponsors, community donors, and dedicated volunteers, AberNecessities has delivered the gift of magic to 5,396 children across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.
For many children, waking up to presents under the tree or the excitement of Santa’s visit is something they could only dream of. But this year, the spirit of giving has transformed Christmas for so many, ensuring no child is left without the wonderous feeling of Christmas magic.
AberNecessities extends its heartfelt thanks to the incredible corporate supporters, including Apache, Autosave Components, Viaro Energy, Ithaca Energy, Harbour Energy, NRG Group, CNOOC International, Unity, Petrasco Energy Logistics, Boskalis Subsea Services, Peterson Energy Logistics, and Expro. Their contributions have been instrumental in making this campaign a success.
Beyond the generous donations from businesses, thousands of individuals in the community opened their hearts, donating money, essential items, and even their time to help make this season truly magical. Whether it was through Giving Tree baubles, participating in fundraising initiatives, or dropping off donations, every act of kindness played a crucial role.
Thanks to the collective efforts of supporters thousands of children who may have otherwise gone without can now share in the excitement of Christmas morning.
“This has been our toughest year since we launched in 2019,” said founder Danielle Flecher-Horn.
“This Christmas, we witnessed an unprecedented surge in applications from families struggling to navigate a cold winter, combined with the cost-of-living crisis, all while doing their best to make Christmas special for their children. At times, the stories we heard were truly heartbreaking. Yet, despite this, and with so many people understandably being more conscious of their own finances, our community came together to create something extraordinary.
Thanks to the incredible generosity of individuals and businesses, we proved that, together, we can deliver something special, unforgettable, and precious to families who needed it most. To everyone who donated or volunteered: thank you for helping make this Christmas truly magical.”
While Christmas is a special time of year, the challenges faced by vulnerable families don’t stop when the decorations come down. AberNecessities remains committed to supporting local children experiencing hardship throughout the year and invites businesses and individuals to help them create a brighter future for every child, because No Child Should Go Without.
