An Aberdeenshire partnership has picked up the award for entrepreneurship at the Arts & Business Scotland Awards. Buchanan Food and Woodend Barn received the accolade at the annual event last night in Edinburgh celebrating outstanding partnerships between the cultural and business sectors.

The Turcan Connell sponsored Entrepreneurship Award recognises a partnership that has developed business expertise or opportunities within the cultural organisation. It went to Woodend Barn and Buchanan Food of Banchory for successfully collaborating on a year of sponsored activities designed to showcase the environmental values and sustainability practices of both organisations, and to highlight the significant role of artists and creativity within environmental learning.

The winners of the other category awards are:

  • Placemaking sponsored by VisitScotland: Urban Union and Waveparticle
  • People sponsored by Chevron Upstream Europe: A1 Toys and Children’s Classic Concerts
  • Digital Innovation sponsored by Accenture Scotland: LaChunky Studios and Tromolo Productions
  • International: Virgin Trains and YDance

Arts & Business Scotland chief executive, David Watt said: “The partnerships, projects and individuals celebrated at the Arts & Business Scotland Awards illustrate the appetite within the cultural and business sectors to ensure Scotland is a nation which has creativity and cultural engagement at its heart. The partnership between Woodend Barn and Buchanan Foods is a fantastic illustration of this, showcasing the very best of what can be achieved through collaborative working.”
