Aberdeen’s new Dementia Resource Centre boost from solicitor will proceeds

Alzheimer Scotland and Aberdeen’s Dementia Resource Centre has benefited from a generous donation of £215 from The Law Practice Solicitors & Estate Agents.

This comes ofter the company's decison to pledge to donate a percentage of its profits from all wills instructed during the summer months.

The new establishment, located at 13 King Street, Aberdeen, is open for drop-ins from anyone seeking advice about dementia whilst serving as a meeting place for people with dementia and their families.

Sarah Geoghegan, policy and engagement manager with Alzheimer Scotland, said: “We’re delighted with the money The Law Practice has raised for Alzheimer Scotland and would like to thank everyone involved. The funds will go towards the running of our local support groups and activity groups in Aberdeen. These make a big difference in supporting people with dementia and their families to live well with their diagnosis, make new friendships and remain an active part of the community.”

Margaret Waldron, principal solicitor and owner at The Law Practice, said: “We’re celebrating our tenth year of business and to mark the milestone, we wanted to give something back to the local community that’s helped us grow. We asked our team to nominate local charities to support throughout the year and dementia is very close to the heart here.

“Alzheimer Scotland has an appropriate link with our business as solicitors: we always stress the importance of planning ahead. A Will is one of the most important things you’ll ever create and, at difficult times, can save a lot of stress, delays and upset. It’s so important, for people of all ages and levels of health, to have their Will written as early as possible. Our team pride themselves in taking the legal jargon off clients’ shoulders and make sure their wishes are conveyed just as they like.

“This is an incredible charity and I’m so pleased we have had a hand in launching this fantastic new Resource Centre.”

This effort from The Law Practices comes as part of principal solicitor Margaret Waldron’s plans to support ten individual local charities during 2015, her tenth year of business.
