Aberdeen-born Michael Gove is set to receive a peerage when former prime minister Rishi Sunak's resignation honours are announced today.
Now retired from politics, Gove occupied a variety of cabinet positions under a prime ministers David Cameron, Theresa May, Boris Johnson and Rishi Sunak.
Sunak's resignation honours list is set to finally be published today after months of delays.
The Times reports he will ennoble Gove as well as former Scottish secretary Alister Jack and ex chief whip Simon Hart.
There have historically been tensions between Gove and Boris Johnson since Johnson's first bid to become prime minister in 2016 was hampered by Gove entering the race himself.
Despite later serving in Johnson's cabinet, Gove was sacked shortly before Johnson resigned - Gove having advised him to do so.
The Times quotes an unnamed close ally of Johnson as labelling Gove "one of the most treacherous people in politics", but conceding he is a "a more worthy recipient than many".
