Aberdeen-Stavanger business event is resounding success

A major annual business event linking two of Europe’s leading energy hubs has once again been hailed as a resounding success.

The second annual Aberdeen-Stavanger Gateway, in association with Statoil, took place at the city’s Norwood Hall Hotel on Tuesday, June 2nd and brought together 150 delegates to enjoy knowledge sharing and networking opportunities between these twin cities. The event also aims to create a springboard from which further business opportunities may be explored.

Looking at the theme, “Collaborating for Success – The Next Chapter” the line-up of speakers featured Head of Communication for Statoil Aberdeen Ola Morten Aanestad and John Gotrik (Vice President, Online Electronics an IK Group Company). Roy Espeland (Country Manager for Norway, Stork) and Professor Charles Skene OBE, Founder and Chairman of Skene House HotelSuites provided an overview on developments in key sectors.

Commenting on the success of the event, Director of Aberdeen City Council and event chairman Gordon McIntosh said: “This event successfully builds on the already close links between Aberdeen and Stavanger, especially at a time when the industry has challenges, and uses the strength of the two places, including the network of business, to deal with some of these issues.”

Keynote speaker Ola Morten Aanestad added: “It is important to have good arenas to discuss challenges and opportunities, not least in times like these. I am certain close co-operation in the industry, also across the UK-Norwegian median line, can help us tackle the industry challenges and make us more efficient.”

Founder and managing director of event creator Granite PR Brett Jackson commented: “I am delighted to see 150 people coming together against a challenge of lower oil price to continue exploring collaboration and opportunities in the twin cities of Aberdeen and Stavanger.”
