Aberdeen Sports Village set to welcome local hip-hop twins SHY & DRS

A leading Scottish sports facility is set to welcome Aberdeen hip-hop duo, SHY & DRS to its premises this week.

Aberdeen Sports Village (ASV), which boasts more than 10,000 members and has welcomed top athletes through its doors since its establishment in 2009, will welcome another style of celebrity this week ahead of the city’s major music festival, Enjoy Music.

SHY & DRS, Scottish rappers also known as Mark and Darren Scott, will visit the leading sports facility on Wednesday 1 June, between 6.30-7.30pm to promote the music festival, take selfies with fans and host a ticket giveaway for Enjoy Music, which is taking place at Hazlehead Park on Saturday 4 June (over 18s only).

The music festival, for the second year running, will see over 40 acts perform across five stages, and will offer a range of food, drink and activities on the day. Set to be even bigger and better than last year, the festival headliners include Tinie Tempah and Example, as well as showcasing a range of music genres to satisfy all tastes.

SHY & DRS are due to perform on the main stage at 6pm and are planning to film their brand new music video at the festival.

ASV will also have a stall on the day with fun-packed activities including a shoot the hoop competition, giving visitors the chance to win two free passes to ASV’s state-of-the-art gym or leading Aquatics Centre.

Duncan Sinclair, chief executive of ASV, said: “We are proud to support the Enjoy Music festival this year, it is a brilliant event for the people of Aberdeen, as well as attracting new audiences to the city. We are very excited to be a part of this and I’m sure the event will be well received on the day.”

Mark Lenthall, festival director, added: "We are delighted that Aberdeen Sports Village is supporting Enjoy Music this year. ASV is a world class facility used by the whole community, and we are bringing some huge artists to the people of the North-east, so it’s a great partnership. Working together goes to show that Aberdeen has lots to offer those who live, work and visit the city."
