An Aberdeen fitness centre has received a prestigious accolade after winning a customer service award at a UK-wide fitness industry event.
Aberdeen Sports Village (ASV), based on the city’s Linksfield Road, was shortlisted for two awards at the National Fitness Awards, beating off strong competition. At the final, which took place in Leicester on Friday December 2, ASV was named best in the UK for Customer Service.
The National Fitness Awards is an annual event, which recognises excellence and achievement in gyms throughout the UK. Judges visited ASV to review the facilities and speak to gym members and staff before compiling a comprehensive report as part of the final judging process.
ASV, which opened in 2009, boasts a state-of-the-art gym, sports halls, indoor and outdoor athletics facilities, a range of exercise classes and indoor football pitches, as well as the Aquatics Centre, which includes an Olympic standard 50m pool and 25m diving pool.
The glittering awards ceremony was attended by over 850 people and hosted by boxing world champion Ricky Hatton and award winning personal trainer and star of The Apprentice, Katie Bulmer-Cooke.
Duncan Sinclair, ASV CEO, said: “What an incredible achievement for ASV. To win the customer service award is a huge honour for the sports village, and is a testament to the dedication of every single member of our team. We work very hard to make sure our customer service and our facilities are outstanding and securing this prestigious award confirms that ASV is leading the way when it comes to providing the very best customer experience.
“It has always been our aim at ASV to provide a broad choice of sporting activities, and with our Olympic sized pool and unique diving facilities, as well as over 100 fitness classes, and outdoor, as well as indoor facilities, ASV offers something for everyone.
“Winning the customer service award is a well-deserved compliment for our enthusiastic, dynamic and positive team, who make our members feel welcome, motivated and inspired every day.”
National Fitness Awards’ director Judith Halkerston said: “The quality and quantity of National Fitness Awards’ entries just keep improving year on year and the winners should be really proud of their achievements as competition was so strong and standards were so high.”
