It's time to play ball at Aberdeen Science Centre as it unveils The Wall, its brand-new interactive exhibit for the whole family.

The first of its kind in Scotland, the latest attraction invites visitors to throw and bounce their way through a series of interactive games that are sure to get competitive.

Visitors will be able to discover more about space, nature, energy, maths, and many other topics through immersive challenges and games that combine physical activity and digital technology.

The Wall makes use of the Lü Interactive Playground system, which uses a high-definition laser projector, a movement detection camera, powerful speakers and automated, multi-coloured lights, to encourage people of all ages and abilities to learn while they play.

The new exhibit will allow visitors to Aberdeen Science Centre to interact with a variety of fun STEM-based digital activities which are projected onto a wall in the centre’s ground floor exhibition space.

As they play, users can complete tasks, solve puzzles and score points by touching the wall with their hands or soft objects and throwing balls at ‘on screen’ targets and buttons, as the system’s motion capture technology tracks movement in real time.

Bryan Snelling, chief executive officer at Aberdeen Science Centre, said the new exhibit was being introduced at an exciting time with the October school holidays starting soon.

He said: “We are thrilled to introduce our visitors to our most exciting, immersive and innovative exhibit to date. The Wall is an interactive experience that allows people to explore STEM-related topics while playing a variety of engaging and physical games, putting both their brains and brawn to the test, using technology that we are proud to say is being used in Scotland for the first time.

“We are also unveiling our new exhibit ahead of one our favourite times of the year, the October holidays. The school break is a time for families to have fun together, and with our new exhibit ready and waiting, we are sure that all members of the family will be able to discover something new while trying to get a new high score or solve a tricky puzzle!”

The games and activities featured in the The Wall’s content library will be regularly updated, so visitors to Aberdeen Science Centre will be able to experience a new interactive challenge every time they visit.

Based on Constitution Street near Aberdeen beach, ASC is home to almost 65 interactive exhibits, allowing people of all ages to discover topics including Space, Energy, Life Sciences, Engineering, and much more.

Open seven days a week, the VisitScotland 5-star rated visitor attraction also offers exclusive venue and room hire for corporate, social and private events, alongside corporate sponsorship opportunities.
