An Aberdeen restaurant specialising in Indian and Nepalese food has been nominated for a national accolade after a public vote.
8848 Restaurant, based on the city’s Union Street has been nominated as a finalist in the Scotland’s Best Indian Restaurant category at the Scottish Entertainment and Hospitality Awards.
The awards, being held for a fifth time, celebrate Scotland’s favourite eateries, hotels, bars and pubs, and winners will be announced at a ceremony on Sunday, May 8 at the Glasgow City Hotel.
Krish Bhetuwal, director at 8848, said: “It’s absolutely fantastic to be shortlisted for these prestigious awards. It’s a true testament to the talents of our team at 8848 to be selected as a finalist.
“We opened the restaurant just 16 months ago and we never thought that we could receive such recognition so quickly.”
The restaurant, run by Krish and his business partner, Manoj Neupane, recently tasted its first awards success as they won the Best of Aberdeen at the Scottish Curry Awards during a ceremony held in Glasgow held in April.
Manoj said: “We were delighted to win the Best of Aberdeen award in what was an incredibly tough category.
“We’d like to thank all of our customers, staff and suppliers for their support in what has been a fantastic time for the business and we’re looking forward to continuing providing our unique food and service to the people of Aberdeen.”
8848 restaurant opened its doors in Aberdeen in January 2015 and offers an extensive menu of traditional Indian and Nepalese cuisine with produce sourced from local suppliers across the region.
The city centre-based eatery can seat up to 75 people in its main dining area and can hold functions in a private area with a separate bar for up to 30 guests.
8848 is open 2pm until 10pm from Sundays to Thursdays and 2pm until 10.30pm from Fridays to Mondays. Lunch, à la carte and all-day tapas menus are available.
