A brand new exhibition at the Music Hall has joined recently added art installations across all three Aberdeen Performing Arts venues in a celebration of visual artforms.

The new installations with the message ‘Everyone is Welcome Here’ reflect the ethos of the arts organisation in its commitment to welcoming everyone into its venues – His Majesty’s Theatre, the Music Hall and the Lemon Tree – regardless of age, disability status, gender, sexuality or race.

Aberdeen Performing Arts Head of Creative Engagement, Susan Whyte, said: “Our cabaret Everyone is Welcome Here, which took place at the Lemon Tree last autumn, served as inspiration for the message, the signs, and our commitment to welcoming everyone into our venues.

“As an organisation, being welcoming and friendly is something we always strive to do, and the signs are there to let everyone know how much we value being respectful and kind.

“We’d like to think that they will make for a good photo opportunity to continue to spread a message of positivity.”

The Music Hall is also hosting an exhibition by the Grampian Hospitals Art Trust (GHAT). The artwork in the exhibition was chosen by NHS Grampian staff, visitors to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and GHAT staff. Some of the artworks were exhibited in GHAT’s Abstracted Landscapes exhibition, held at The Suttie Arts Space in the winter of 2023-34.

The artwork is accompanied by observations made while selecting the work, that reflects how staff and visitors feel about place and locality, and range from personal memories to colours, subject matter and the environment.

Susan commented: “The exhibition is everything you could ask for in a display of artwork – moving, beautiful and thought-provoking. The inspiration for GHAT is to create art that makes people feel better. This is such a simple, yet powerful thread that runs through the entire exhibition and we are honoured to be hosting it at the Music Hall.”

GHAT’s work highlights culture as a central component of wellbeing and is a sector leader in developing bespoke creative projects for people visiting, working or utilising the services within hospitals and healthcare.
