Aberdeen Performing Arts has partnered with Raven Afrikulture for a new season of performances celebrating the richness of African music, culture and creativity at the Lemon Tree.

Afro Indie Series 2.0 will provide unforgettable experiences to audiences who want to immerse themselves in the heart and soul of Afro-indie music, right here in Aberdeen. The series will provide local artists the opportunities to support and share their work with established African musicians.

Aberdeen Performing Arts Head of Creative Engagement, Susan Whyte, said: “We are delighted to partner with Raven Afrikulture in bringing this exciting programme of events to our stage at the Lemon Tree over the coming months. We are very much looking forward to this celebration of African culture, sharing stories, making connections and welcoming everyone to come and join in the experience.”

Adedeji Ekundayo, and Adebayo Winsala Founders of Raven Afrikulture, expressed enthusiasm about the event: "At Raven Afrikulture, we believe music tells stories that resonate deeply with people's hearts. “The Afro Indie Series is our way of celebrating the incredible Afro-indie talent in Aberdeen and giving these artists a platform to share their stories in their voices.”

The first performance is headlined by Lagos based artist Tomi Thomas who will take to the Lemon Tree stage on Saturday, April 5 alongside talented local artists including AiiTee, Eri Ife, LikkLe bVnti, and host for the evening London’s very own Radio God Lanre Shonubi.
