Aberdeen & Northern Marts is pleased to announce the appointment of auctioneer Helen Rickard to the livestock auction team, beginning Monday, June 4.
Ms Rickard, a well-known figure in Scotland’s agriculture industry, is a skilled auctioneer and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the post. Having previously worked for ANM at Thainstone Centre and Elgin for many years, she will provide support to deputy head of livestock Colin Slessor and undertake canvassing and auctioneering duties for sheep sales.
Ms Rickard said: “I’m delighted to be back in the North-east and to be working with the Thainstone team once again. With the experience I’ve gained working in the industry for over 25 years paired with my existing, strong-established relationships with ANM’s customer base, I will be able to hit the ground running. I look forward to starting this exciting position within the framework of ANM.”
John Gregor, ANM Group executive director, commented: “As Scotland’s leading farming co-operative, we are pleased to welcome Helen back to Thainstone. This appointment represents a positive step forward for the group - the addition of Helen to our auctioneer team will strengthen the team as a whole while allowing the business to grow its customer base through a wider geographical area.”
In addition to the appointment of Ms Rickard, Aberdeen & Northern Marts’ Ellis Mutch and James Scott will take on new roles as trainee auctioneers.
Mr Mutch joined the Aberdeen & Northern Marts team in August 2017 as a livestock fieldsman, and has become well-respected by his customers in the Buchan area and the wider marts team at Thainstone. He will join the team as a trainee auctioneer alongside James Scott, who is joining ANM on a full-time basis August following the completion of his HND in Agriculture. Mr Mutch will work from Thainstone while continuing to service customers in the Buchan area, and Mr Scott’s role will see him based between the Caithness and Thainstone Centres, allowing him to build on his experience and knowledge in his new role.
John Angus, Aberdeen & Northern Marts head of livestock, said: “We are delighted with Helen’s appointment and the progression of Ellis and James – two up and coming members of our team. These changes will strengthen Aberdeen & Northern Marts as a whole, allowing us to continue to provide an excellent service to our members and customers.”
