Aberdeen-based Prospect 13 has helped shine a light on up-and-coming children’s charity, Lifestars, by supporting its first ever fundraising event in the city.
Dazzling a group of longstanding supporters at the city’s Douglas Hotel on March 22nd, the Starry Soirée was an intimate afternoon of glamour, entertainment and giving back, all in aid of Lifestars, an organisation dedicated to helping young people across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire with additional support needs.
The glitz filled day featured live music, bingo and magic, with over £2,000 raised to fund educational trips and providing children with access to a wide range of activities designed to develop life and social skills.
Founded in 2018 by former Dyce Academy pupil Neve McPherson, Lifestars works to build confidence in young people and foster qualities like leadership, teamwork, trust and communication. By organising sports and sensory sessions, career fairs and school trips, the charity offers young people the chance to take part in fun interactive activities to support their learning and development.
Commenting on the success of the inaugural fundraiser, Neve said, “We are thrilled to announce the success of our first charity fundraiser, with all proceeds going towards improving the lives of local children with additional support needs. The afternoon was truly unforgettable as we continue our mission to empower the children we support and help them shine as their own stars.”
Cerri McDonald, chief executive officer and founder of Prospect 13, has been involved with Lifestars since 2022 and joined the charity’s Board of Trustees last year. Cerri offers her marketing expertise to help structure and elevate the charity's branding, marketing, and communications strategy. A new suite of branding, including a refreshed logo and a revamped website will be launching soon, bringing a fresh new look and enhanced user experience to drive the Lifestars mission to improve the lives of even more children and to promote positive change.
“I’m deeply passionate about education and personal growth, so I’m honoured to support Neve and the Lifestars team,” said Cerri. “The first fundraiser is an important step towards making a real difference in the lives of young people in our community, and I’m delighted to have been able to lend our support.”
