The iconic Aberdeen letters in Union Terrace Gardens now look even more magical after a giant panto makeover inspired by Jack And The Beanstalk at His Majesty’s Theatre.
The festive look was launched on Wednesday, December 11, when some of the ensemble cast from the Christmas treat gathered at the eye-catching animated design, which will be in place during the run of the pantomime until Sunday January 5.
Neve Ellen, who is part of the hardest-working ensemble in Pantoland, said: “I think the design of the letters totally captures all the panto magic that we try to show in the show. I walk past the letters every day on the way to the theatre, and it totally gets me ready for the day and gives me the Christmas spirit.“
Neve and the rest of the ensemble are bringing the tale of Jack And The Beanstalk to life for thousands of fans visiting the show, which stars Gary: Tank Commander and HMT panto legends Alan McHugh and PJ Corrigan.
Panto lovers can now visit the letters – introduced to the Granite City by Aberdeen Inspired - to take selfies with the stunning display before (or after) going to see Jack And The Beanstalk.

And as a special Christmas treat, Aberdeen Inspired and Aberdeen Performing Arts are offering the chance to win a family ticket for the opening night of next year’s spectacular panto at His Majesty’s Theatre, Cinderella.
Neve said: “If anyone gets a chance to see the panto, they absolutely need to take it and run with it – and getting a photo in front of these fantastic letters sounds like the best kind of way to do that.”
