Businesses and charities across Aberdeen took part in a training walk to launch the second Royal Bank of Scotland Kiltwalk of the year, which takes place in the City and Shire on June 3.
Tracy Milne, founder of the Alfie Milne Lymphangiomatosis Trust, took part in the first of many training walks alongside Kiltie volunteers and enthusiastic workers from across Aberdeen’s private and charity sectors. STV News presenters Laura Goodwin and Chris Harvey and CHAS Senior Outdoor Event Coordinator Scott Maxwell were among those taking part.
Tracy urged individuals and businesses across Aberdeen City and Shire to sign-up and get walking. She said: “The Royal Bank of Scotland Kiltwalk provides the perfect way to fundraise for a variety of worthy causes. It’s a great opportunity for people of all ages to get active and raise much needed money for charity. I’m calling on the local community to get behind the Kiltwalk and give it a go.”
Walkers of all ages can tackle the Mighty Stride, a 26 mile walk during which walkers will set off from Potarch at 9am, a 14 mile Big Stroll, which begins in Milton Park in Crathes or the five mile Wee Wander which leaves from Camphill Rudolph Steiner School in Murtle Estates.
Thanks to the unique fundraising formula from Kiltwalk backers The Hunter Foundation, for every pound raised by a walker, your chosen charity receives a 40% boost, ensuring the Kiltwalk offers one of the most effective fundraising models of any mass participation event. Meanwhile, one lucky Kiltwalker could win a brand new Vauxhall Corsa 1.4 SRi courtesy of sponsors Arnold Clark.
Teresa Bremner, membership network manager of the Aberdeen Chamber of Commerce, added: “It is great to have another Aberdeen Kiltwalk taking place this June. North-east businesses take great pride in supporting the causes they care about and hopefully a significant amount of money can be raised for those who need it the most.”
Sponsors and partners including Royal Bank of Scotland, Arnold Clark, Johnston Carmichael were also in attendance along with representatives of Team Jak, Social Stuff, STV, CHAS, and the Alfie Milne Lymphangiomatosis Trust.
