Aberdeen firm supports local swimming club

With Central Investment’s contribution, members of Aberdeen Amateur Swimming Club (ASC) have headed off to train in Tenerife, Spain, participating in a valuable winter training opportunity.

Aberdeen ASC will participate in a programme of activity at the Tenerife Top Training (T3) location, which offers excellent training facilities. Both the Olympic, as well as the 25 meter swimming pool, are located under the open sky and the diatomaceous earth filtration system allows comfortable training without additional exposure to chlorine.

Vice-President of Aberdeen ASC, and Director at Central Investment, Bill Ellis said: “Supporting this fantastic local swim club is a pleasure, the students involved are thrilled to be visiting these outstanding training grounds. It will be a demanding but rewarding week of training and a chance to celebrate the Club recently being named ‘Club of the Year’.

The Club recently scooped the top prize of ‘Club of the Year’ at the Scottish Swimming Awards on September 19, 2015. The awards took place at the Edinburgh Assembly Rooms and celebrated all athletes, coaches, volunteers and local councils involved in Scottish Swimming.

Central Investment, has contributed over £500 to the swimming club’s trip, providing the team kit for the trip. This follows on from a previous donation of a laptop to the team.

Mr Ellis continued; “In addition to sponsoring this trip, Central Investment are organising a fundraising night later on in the year to support all of the club’s efforts. It’s important that we continue to support and encourage everyone to get into swimming and enjoy the fantastic skills and benefits they draw from it.”

Founded in 1980, Aberdeen ASC is based in Cults at the International School of Aberdeen, is open to all ages and levels and has trained swimmers that have gone on to compete in the Olympics and Commonwealth Games.
