Jai Aenugu, founder and chief executive officer of TechForce Cyber, isn’t just running for the thrill of the race. This April, he will take on the Paris Marathon, followed by the Edinburgh Marathon in May, all to raise vital funds and awareness for Scottish Autism.

Running for a purpose bigger than miles

Jai is no stranger to endurance running—or fundraising. Over the years, he has raised thousands for charities close to his heart.

  • London Marathon 2022 – Raised £3,000 for Asthma & Lung UK
  • Berlin Marathon 2023 – Raised £1,800 for the Mental Health Foundation
  • New York Marathon 2024 (planned) – Fundraised $3,000 for Shoe4Africa, but due to U.S. visa issues, he ran an alternative Marathon in Aberdeen, raising £300 for Diversity Bridge
  • Numerous other charity efforts over the years

This time, he is pushing himself further for Scottish Autism, a cause that has become more urgent than ever.

Why this matters now

Jai’s commitment comes at a critical time. Recent reports indicate that adult autism and ADHD assessments in Aberdeenshire may be suspended, despite warnings of the "significant risk" this poses to individuals and families. Scottish Autism plays a crucial role in filling these gaps, making this fundraising mission even more essential.

Jai Aenugu speaks out: “Running has always been about pushing my limits, but this journey is about more than just crossing the finish line. It’s about ensuring that families and individuals living with autism receive the support they desperately need. The potential loss of adult autism assessments in Aberdeenshire is alarming. I want to do my part in making sure no one feels left behind.”

More than just fundraising: The mental health connection

Jai also highlights the power of running in improving mental health, something that’s particularly relevant to neurodivergent individuals who may experience higher rates of stress, anxiety, and depression. Research has shown that regular physical activity, such as running, boosts mood, self-esteem, and overall well-being—making his mission even more meaningful.
