Two Aberdeen businesses have joined forces to raise over £4k for two local children’s charities.

Marketing agency, Prospect 13, and global business development company, 4C Global (4C), have rallied their respective client bases in a collaborative effort to raise £4,250 for AberNecessities and Northsound 1 Cash for Kids Mission Christmas.

The money raised will be split equally between the two charities who will use the much-needed funding to provide winter clothing and toys to children across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire from birth to 18.

AberNecessities is a local, non-profit charity supporting underprivileged families across the North-East providing essential items they need to care for their babies and children.

Northsound 1 Cash for Kids is a grant-giving charity supporting vulnerable children and families in the region. The charity works to raise money to improve the lives of disadvantaged children and young people in our communities who are affected by illness, poverty, neglect or have additional needs.

Cerri McDonald, managing director, Prospect 13, said she was delighted to be lending her support to two local causes: “To help make a difference to the lives of children and young people across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire is so important right now, particularly since Christmas is about giving and the festive season can be a difficult time for many families.

“The volunteers at AberNecessities and Northsound 1 Cash for Kids are working incredibly hard to make Christmas a special time for those families who are struggling.

“I’d like to send a heartfelt thank you to my clients for their generosity and for lending their support to our fund-raising mission.”

Finlay Johnston, managing director, 4C, commented: “We are delighted with the amount raised and it’s all thanks to the charitable nature of our friends and business colleagues. My mother raised money for charities her whole adult life, and as local business owners, I believe we have a responsibility to come together to support local causes to ensure charities are not solely dependent on the hard work of a few.

“This vital funding for our two chosen charities will hopefully help make life a little easier for some families in need this winter.”

Michelle Ferguson, charity manager, Northsound 1 Cash for Kids, said: “Mission Christmas is our biggest appeal of the year and we provide gifts for every child applied for in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire who are at risk of waking on Christmas morning with nothing to open.

“This is a huge operation and last year we helped 5,110 children whom Santa forgot. We could not deliver this appeal without the contribution from our supporters.

“We use cash donations to purchase gifts in order to meet the specific demands and often purchase specialised toys for children with special needs where required.

“We receive donations from all over the Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire area and they have to be sorted and distributed to the Health Visitors, Social workers and professionals working with the children we help. We can only do this with help such as yours. Thank you so much, it really does make a difference.”

Danielle Flecher-Horn, founder of AberNecessities, said:“We are truly so humbled and moved by the outpouring of generosity we have received for our Christmas campaign - 'No Child Should Go Without Believing in Magic'.

“Sadly, 18% of children across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire are living in poverty which means the magical feeling and hopeful anticipation of Christmas morning doesn't exist; it is our aim to change that and add a little magic where we can.

“Thanks to the wonderful support provided by Prospect 13 and 4C, we can continue to provide over 1000 children living across our city and shire with a bespoke Christmas Eve Box to help deliver a little joy at the most wonderful time of the year.

“Every Christmas Eve box is lovingly filled with cosy pyjamas, slipper socks, festive activities and treats; each box really showcases the love and support in this truly beautiful and unique community.

“Aberdeen has demonstrated great warmth, kindness and generosity of spirit for which we are immensely grateful. From the bottom of our hearts - thank you.”

Businesses who contributed to Prospect 13 and 4C’s fund-raising mission include: Enerpro, Lawrence of Kemnay, signal film, International School Aberdeen, GSS Developments, Solab IT Services and Quensh HSEQ Specialists.
